October was an interesting month. We travelled to Edinbrough to visit good friends and made time to shoot more stock photography of the city.
Closer to home, I received an exciting email requesting a travel destination shoot in Dublin. The client was over from the States for a few days. She booked the rooftop terrace apartment at ‘The Clarence Hotel’. – Lead singer Bono of the Band U2 and lead guitarist ‘The Edge’ are the joint owners. The rooftop has plenty of history, U2’s ‘Beautiful day’ video was filmed on this very rooftop. See video: U2 Beautiful day.
At times, the weather in Dublin can be testing for photography, we have to work with what nature provides. The morning of our shoot started with heavy rain, then with a touch of ‘Irish luck’, this miraculously stopped! No sign of the band, but we enjoyed the cityscape views looking along the river Liffey.
For those that are interested in the camera gear side – I shot this picture set with a Fuji XT1 and the 50mm/F2 + 18-55mm, all with natural light. I find the JPEGS along with the customisable settings on the Fuji cameras work perfectly for this style of work.
The client was a pleasure to work with. I’m forever grateful to work with so many interesting people.
